Glastonbury festival crime reports are down 22 percent

Glastonbury festival crime reports are down 22 percent from last year as police continue with their active patrolling.

128 crimes compared to the same point last year, 163 officers have been reported. In addition, 50% of arrests for offenses that are performed by the festival site will not be tolerated.

Visible patrols continue in the coming days and officers on horseback and on foot and by bike will be out.

Inspector Chris Morgan said: "Glastonbury Festival is a safe and peaceful event, however these figures show that we will take swift action against anyone who commits criminal offences on site.

"As the bands get started I would encourage people to take extra care of their personal belongings in large crowds, secure mobile phones with our lanyards and use the free lock ups provided."
