Jack Johnson confirmed for Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury Festival has officially confirmed that Hawaiian singer-songwriter Jack Johnson will be appearing at this year's Festival.

2010 will see a brand new studio album, world tour and a host of festival appearances for Hawaiian Jack Johnson . The album (which is as of yet untitled) will be released worldwide the week of 31st May and will be preceded by a single in May.Following the release of his new album, Johnson will embark on his first world tour since 2008, which will kick off in Europe beginning June 16th. The tour will be a mix of headline shows at European cities including Cardiff Arena (Tuesday 29th June) and London's O2 Arena (Wednesday 30th June) and festival appearances including Eden Sessions, Southside Festival, Hurricane Festival, Rock Werchter, and Roskilde.Johnson joins other confirmed acts Friday headliners U2, as well as early Emerging Talent winners My Luminaries, and The John E Vistic Experience. Tickets have sold out for this year's Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 across a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. There will be no more tickets on sale until sometime early in 2010

Glastonbury Festival 2009

This place is like a whole world of its own. One of the biggest (they claim to be THE biggest) in the world, Glastonbury is 900 acres of music and art and community in the Vale of Avalon, with mythology and religious traditions that are hundreds of years old. 900 ACRES. That's more than a lot. That's an empire. King Arthur might even be buried there.

It's been around for 35 years, and shortly after it's beginning, it became a haven for hippies that were coming from celebrating the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge. Later they built a giant pyramid that served as a cowshed and animal food store when the festival was not going on.The festival has consistently grown over time, and has thus had to sometimes change locations to accomodate the growing crowd. There has also been a history of struggle with licensing restrictions, and the festival organizers always seem to prevail in making sure the show goes on. Main organizer Michael Eavis has always played a steady hand in enabling the festival to happen.
